


Program Overview
he Full-Time French Program at Vanier College is an intensive language course designed for students who want to learn French or significantly improve their everyday communication skills within a short period of time.
This non-credit program focuses on the four core language competencies:
• listening
• speaking
• reading
• writing
Students aged 16 and above develop their grammar, vocabulary, and communication skills through interactive exercises and group learning activities.
In addition to classroom learning, the program includes cultural activities in and around Montreal, allowing students to apply their language skills in real-life situations with local communities.

Course Structure
Vanier Language School offers six levels of full-time French instruction, designed to progressively develop communication skills.
Level Hours
Initiation 100 hours
Level 1 200 hours
Level 2 300 hours
Level 3 300 hours
Level 4 300 hours
Level 5 300 hours
Each session lasts 5 weeks (100 hours).
Students typically take 10 to 15 weeks to complete one level, depending on their progress.

Classes are conducted in person at Vanier College in Montreal.
Level Progression
Level 1 (A1)
Students develop conversational confidence and basic writing skills.
Topics include:
• present and past tenses
• near future
• adjectives and adverbs
• emotions and physical state
• everyday habits and routines
Level 2 (A2)
Students expand their speaking and writing abilities.
Topics include:
• conditional forms
• comparatives and superlatives
• childhood experiences and personal interests
• role-playing everyday situations
• structured written communication
Level 3 (B1)
Students refine comprehension and grammar usage.
Topics include:
• pronouns and adverbs
• language registers and intonation
• summarizing spoken and written content
• vocabulary for work, education, commerce, and health
Level 4 – Level 5 (B2 – C1)
Students develop full functional communication.
Topics include:
• tense revision and advanced grammar
• argumentation and debate
• Canadian culture and current events
• making suggestions and presenting opinions
• writing descriptive and informative texts

Registration closes one week before each session.
Important:
These tuition fees are set by Vanier College.
They do not include the Nusa Connexion Strategic Education Pathway Coordination Fee, which covers program coordination and advisory support.
Level Evaluation
Vanier Language School partners with EduSynch, an online language testing platform aligned with CEFR standards.
All new students will receive an invitation to complete a language level evaluation within two weeks of their course start date.
The evaluation assesses:
• writing
• listening
• reading
• speaking
The test can be completed entirely online from home.
Failure to complete the evaluation may result in a $30 fee charged by the institution.
Visa Requirements
Students planning to study for less than 6 months typically do not require a Canadian Study Permit.
However, some foreign nationals may require a temporary resident visa or electronic travel authorization (eTA) to enter Canada.
Entry requirements depend on the student’s country of citizenship.

Short-term language programs such as this may be incorporated into EduTravel programs, allowing participants to combine language learning with cultural experiences in Canada.
Health Insurance
International students must have valid health insurance coverage while studying in a full-time language program.
Vanier Language School collaborates with a provider called Study Insured, offering comprehensive coverage for international students.
Typical cost is approximately $2.50 per day.
Homestay Accommodation
Students may choose to stay with a local host family in Montreal through Vanier's homestay partner ExpAcross.
Homestay benefits include:
• private bedroom
• optional meal plans
• access to laundry facilities
• daily language immersion with a local family
Students who prefer alternative accommodation options may receive housing guidance through Nusa Connexion.

The program tuition does not include:
• airfare to Canada
• travel expenses
• visitor visa or entry visa fees
• immigration or legal services
• accommodation outside homestay arrangements
• the Nusa Connexion Strategic Education Pathway Coordination Fee
